Case 16

1. Presented by Eric A. Gehrie, MD and prepared by Lorraine N. Blagg, MA, MLS(ASCP)SBB

Clinical Vignette

The patient is an adult who presented to the emergency department with swollen feet and cold nails with blue nailbeds. The patient described feeling short of breath for the last month and has had general weakness for the last two weeks. The patient's past medical history includes multiple surgical procedures. Blood cultures are positive for gram positive cocci in clusters in the aerobic bottle. The patient requires a cardiac surgery, which is performed once the infection resolves. During the procedure, the patient received multiple units of RBCs and one apheresis platelet product. Two days later, the patient's new type and screen had the following results.

Question:
What is the result of the type and screen?
